This course will provide an overview of the links between conspiracy theories and potential violent extremism.
Participants will gain the following knowledge :
- An overview of popular contemporary conspiracy theories and why some have become mainstream.
- Why people find conspiracy theories appealing.
- How individuals can start to believe multiple, often contradictory conspiracy theories.
- How conspiracy theories are circulated online.
- Ways that influencers use conspiracy theories to promote extremist narratives.
- How to discuss conspiracy theories with individuals effectively in ways that facilitate critical thinking.
